US producer LyondellBasell has lifted its force majeure on butadiene (BD), market sources said on Thursday, although May deliveries are still subject to allocation.

Sources said LyondellBasell did not address how much BD is being allocated following the announcement, but the company had been on 80% allocation since March.

In a letter dated 20 March, LyondellBasell said that a mechanical failure in its BD extraction facility in Channelview, Texas, was the reason for the force majeure and 75% allocation. The company later raised that percentage.

A company source declined to comment on the operations of the business.

LyondellBasell's BD unit has a capacity of 390,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
