The information/data architect strengthens the impact of, and provides recommendations on, business information that will need to be available and shared consistently through the identification, definition and analysis of how information assets aid strategies and business outcomes. The Information/data architect is responsible for discovering the data and analytics requirements for information for all uses.

Data Custodians are responsible for the safe custody, transport, storage of the data and implementation of business rules. The Data Custodian is primarily responsible for managing the metadata about the information assets of the organization, to promote standardization and to guarantee the quality of the data in collaboration with the Data Stewards. H/She works closely with the data steward to identify data quality root cause analysis (RCA) and remediation plans. Often providing direct assistance with the diagnostic steps of the data governance processes that require more technical sophistication than data stewards have.
