Business Term Definition
Financial or physical purchase/sale contract of energy commodities (gas, electricity, biomass, oil, coal, anthracite, emission certificates, etc.) in order to eliminate or at least reduce the company's exposure to market price volatility, concerning the underlying commodities. A hedge deal typically defines the counterparty with whom the contract is concluded, the type of contract (swap, PPA, GoO, EUA, ...), the agreed price, volume and frequency, the type of delivery and the reference marketplace.
