BPCL to invest Rup 4588 crore in petrochem project

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will invest Rup 4588 crore to produce petrochemicals such as acrylic acid, oxo alcohols, and

acrylates at its Kochi refinery using polymer-grade propylene. The raw material will be produced after the completion of its refinery expansion project worth Rup 14,225 crore. The plant will be commissioned in FY 2019.

The project also includes the expansion of the Kochi refinery to 15.5 M tonnes/y from 9.5 M tonnes/y. (1 crore=10 M, 1 lakh=100,000). Original
