Japan’s Asahi Kasei Chemical plans to shut its 390,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) plant in Mizushima in mid-September next year for maintenance, a company source said on Monday.
“The shutdown will last for 45 days and the plant is scheduled to restart in end-October,” the source said.
The company operates another 320,000 tonne/year SM unit at the same location that is not due for turnaround next year.
Other SM producers in Japan include Idemitsu Kosan Co, Nihon Oxriane and Denka.
